Multimedia course reflection EEND 677

  • Was there any article in coursework that has stuck with you? There was an interesting article "Screencasting to Engage Learning" by Michael Ruffini.  I found it a little less intimidating than I previously thought.  I really like the idea of screencasting and can see why it is so useful in a classroom.  Especially with a special population of students like homebound or students on a medical leave which has happened more often in the past 5-10 years.  It gives us the opportunity to "sit down" with a student and explain the assignment more than a document.

  • Did you have a Discussion with your classmates that made a difference in your learning? I like the ideas that classmates had on things as simple as not trying to do too much at once. I think that we can get overwhelmed with change and expectations of what we should do with technology.  I really enjoyed having a few people like my create a poster enough that they asked to use it!  I love creating things like that!  You can see the first artifact here:

  • How have you grown as a connected educator? I got the opportunity to check out so many cool blogs and see how people envisioned the same assignment in so many different ways.  I think that I would need to find some more dedicated time in the day to look into some more teachers ideas...they are the ones you learn the most from since they are in the classroom like you! I also enjoyed the share your story which gave me an opportunity to share a snapshot of my very unique class!  The 2nd artifact is here>

  • Where will you continue your learning? I am going to continue taking more technology classes and learning as I go. I plan on using a lot of the ideas we had in this class for some of my classroom projects.

  1. Screen casting can be pretty powerful for sharing how to use a tech tool or a project. It would be great for homebound or absent students. Technology really can allow teachers to differentiate and meet the needs of various learners.
